Crude NYC Billboard Promotes Abortion

There is a billboard on Manhattan's West Side Highway, at 44th Street and 12th Avenue, that shows a large wire hanger with the inscription, "Your closet space is shrinking as fast as her right to choose." The ad was placed by Manhattan Mini Storage, owned by Edison Properties.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue spoke to this issue today:

"New Yorkers are accustomed to Manhattan Mini Storage posting billboards that bash the Bush Administration, but when it makes the leap from partisan politics to crude cultural commentary, it is stepping on dangerous turf. Why a storage company finds the need to advertise its support for abortion is a story all of its own, but when it seeks to depict the pro-life community — which is primarily Catholic and Protestant — as oppressive, then a line has been crossed.

"Those who like this billboard would no doubt be aghast at the sight of a billboard that featured a bloody baby who survived a botched abortion. They would be even more incensed if the picture were accompanied by the remark, ‘This is what happens when abortion fails.'

"Manhattan Mini Storage is not only guilty of crudeness, but of cowardice. To wit: Why didn't it have the guts to identify the object of her ‘shrinking' choice?"

The Father of Lies has deceived the American public into believing that:

    A) there was an epidemic of "back alley" abortions prior to Roe V Wade.  (NARAL completly fabricated those "facts" according to Bernard Nathanson.

    B) Modern surgical or chemical abortions are safe.  Many women die each year from abortion (fact) and many more are wounded for life either physically or psychologically or both.

This is a spiritual battle, BUT God needs His foot soldiers: WE are they!

Thanks Bill, you valiant warrior for Life!

Why did Mr. Donahue use the example of a botched abortion?

In my opinion, he should have said:

"Those who like this billboard would no doubt be aghast at the sight of a billboard that featured a bloody baby who was killed the right to choose. They would be even more incensed if the picture were accompanied by the remark, ‘This is what happens when abortion happens.'"

About choice and hangars and lives- The girl I lived with my freshman year of college was killed after our second year of college in an attempt by she and her married lover to get rid of the baby– the news of her death and the circumstances, the danger of those back alley homemade abortions horrified me but NEVER made me think that she should have had the opportunity to pay professional abortionists to do it for her. I was sad for Marcia and am still sorry what I failed to do -I know my friendship was shallow and that I was no witness for the faith A few years later when another friend actually flew to NY for an abortion, I said not a word. I was so goofed up that another year or so after that, I think I actually drove that friend to to an abortionist. she called me and said she needed a ride– very vague and I was very foggy in my thinking  I almost literally felt that I was in a fog.. I know Marcia was young and naïve and innocent too—I never knew the married man — so was Peggy– The problem with cultural confusion is that it ultimately is so personal.

Since Mr. Giuliani supports abortion (and Mr. Bloomburg doesn't seem to have a problem with it either), I fail to see why NYC should have a problem with this.

Too bad one of those trucks in Calgary can't be driven down to the Big Apple (the one with the worms in it!!) and parked in front of Manhatten Mini Storage.
