National Wear an Apron Day and Defeat That Vast Social Engineering Project

Is there a national Wear an Apron Day? If not then why not? Let's start a movement! I'm sure the Roman Catholic Church will one day canonize a housewife. I hope she has on a nice apron and not one of those uni-sex jobs which would just defeat the whole purpose. I mean saints have accessories – in art history they are called attributes such as St. Lucy with her eyes in a a dish or St. Catherine with her wheel- and why not have a nice tie around the neck, full-length apron with a few ruffles in a cheerful pattern? Our housewife saint doesn't need to be grim, she needs to be happy. I hope she is making a nice one right now where ever she is in this world. Can't you just see the holy card?

Any ideas?

    The holy card – like some ad for appliances out of the Eisenhower 50s, huh?

    Or, toss in two kids and she could double as patron saint of the no-longer-fully-sane . . . mother, homemaker, kitchen madonna, and “I NEED a baby-sitter and adult conversation”?

    Was the dear saint ‘attributed’ with a wooden spoon, at least? Being among pots and kettles and steam and . . all that . . . would make for definitive image.

    My mother, for one, bore her longish wooden spoon like a scepter – or, mace.

    I couldn’t agree more! For pictures of women in aprons (and many very fruitful mothers with kids galore and one on the way!)see

    WEll, I dare say we do have a saint house wife… Our Dear Lady! Which just goes to show us which saints are the ones Jesus likes best ! ( tongue in cheek) :0 🙂 🙂
