Friends Don’t Let Friends Use WebMail

I LOVE Outlook 2007. Microsoft Outlook 2007 is an amazing program. I use Outlook to manage all my emails both at work and at home. I've talked about Google Gears before but Outlook has it beat (at least for now). It seamlessly moves offline and online. You don't do anything and messages are just sent and received when a connection is available. It's Calendar and Tasks features are excellent. It syncs great with my Blackberry. I could go on but I won't.

I read my Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo Mail in Outlook. I have all three and in a pinch it's great to be able to read them online. But what is so much faster is pulling them into Outlook to read. Not only is it faster but it's so easy to answer emails when you are not connected. I was on a plane yesterday and it was great to be answering emails on the plane. Then, as soon as I had a connection, Outlook sent the messages. Also, I love to have the full power of MS Word as my email editor. It rocks.

It's easier to set up than you think. When I made the transition to Outlook for my home email (about 6 months ago), it was pretty easy to set things up. Just go to the help section of your email provider and you should find instructions on how to do it. With Gmail and Hotmail, it was free. I upgraded my Yahoo account to get it to work (I know there are hacks but I decided I go the paid route).

What do you think? Do you prefer the convenience of webmail or the speed and power of Outlook?

    I love Outlook also. I have two addresses through Google, one for CE and another that is a gmail address. I just pop them right into Outlook.  I look forward to getting Outlook 2007 because I have heard great things about its features.

    I can't stand Outlook! I love just being able to log in on any computer and check my mail. I'm not really a heavy email user, so webmail works fine for me!

    If your mail server supports IMAP rather than just POP3 then you can use webmail and Outlook at the same time without a conflict.

    Also, I don’t really like Outlook that much, it is fine if you are in a corporation and you want to have an Exchange server with all of its features, but I find that Thunderbird works better for me and it is free.
