The Anti-life Liturgy

On a cold January day, marking the 35th anniversary of legalized abortion in the U.S., a group of abortionists stood outside a brand new Planned Parenthood clinic in Schenectady, New York, and declared the site "sacred ground."

I kid you not.

While hundreds of thousands of Americans participated in the "March for Life" in Washington, D.C., a news event almost completely uncovered by the secular media, this relatively small group of abortionists in an upstate town were fielding media questions and forwarding their warped agenda to a press corps representative of every media: television, radio, print and Internet.

As people of all ages and from all walks of life united in the nation's capitol to speak and demonstrate for the trampled lives of the silent slaughtered, the abortionists opened a new 18,000-square-foot killing facility to applause, blessings, and yes, even tears of gratitude and joy.

What is going on here? The opening ceremony, dubbed "On Sacred Ground," even featured a religious act: a Jewish rabbi and three Protestant ministers. It was almost like a bad joke. "Okay, a rabbi and these three ministers go into an abortion clinic…."

Except this was no joke.

"Today is about more than the building, and about bricks and mortar. It's a blessing to demonstrate the support of the clergy," Planned Parenthood spokeswoman Linda Scharf proudly told the media. "Clergy have long supported Planned Parenthood's mission…the clergy were instrumental in getting abortion services legalized in the United States and right here in Schenectady. I know a member of the clergy who was part of an underground who directed young women to safe abortions before Roe v. Wade."

Come again? The clergy in the U.S. have long supported abortion?

In yet another example of media bias, Ms. Scharf's sweeping, broad comments were accepted as, excuse the term, gospel, and were added to the plethora of lies that continue to prop up the abortion industry and make it possible for abortionists to legally go on murdering pre-born babies.

As the "blessing ceremony" continued, the Rev. Larry Phillips of Schenectady's Emmanuel-Friedens Church led the group in laying their hands on the building while declaring, "This is sacred ground, sacred and holy … where women's voices and stories are welcomed, valued and affirmed; sacred ground where women are treated with dignity, supported in their role as moral decision-makers … sacred ground where the violent voices of hatred and oppression are quelled."

The Rev. Abby Norton-Levering led the group in prayers for the center's doctors and staff. "We pray that you will make this a place of safety and give a sense of sanctuary," she said.

Rabbi Matt Cutler of Temple Gates of Heaven blew the shofar as "a renewal of commitment to keep reproductive rights in the hands of women." The Rev. Bill Levering, senior pastor of First Reformed Church of Schenectady, said the right to privacy is endowed by God. "There are some decisions that are left to the individual. Even God respects the right of privacy. We make women into children when we say they cannot control their own bodies," Levering said. Again, no challenges to the minister's questionable brand of "theology."

Where do we even start with this type of arrogance and effrontery? My initial response is "Get your hands off my faith!" How dare they use words such as sacred" and "holy" when the abortion industry has spent the past 35 years telling the public there is no place for the divine in the realm of women's' reproductivity. How dare they mock the obvious existence of God and then turn around and set up their own god, on their own terms!

But the fact is that even abortionists are looking for the divine. If this charade in Schenectady shows anything to pro-lifers it is that abortionists are not content to have the law of the land on their side. They hanker after having God's law on their side too.

Planned Parenthood has been placated, ignored, feared and yes, even supported by various religious institutions around the world. But since its inception, Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry it profits from has had one clear, unchanging enemy: the Catholic Church. If there is one religious entity that Planned Parenthood would sell what's left of its soul to have at its next grand opening ceremony, it's the Catholic Church.

While abortionists seek for divine justification, the Church seeks and teaches truth. As more Planned Parenthood death mills seek the trappings of dignity, the Church preaches the dignity of every human life. The two are on a collision course, and I'll give you one guess which will be triumphant in the end.

As surely as God made little green apples, and Lucifer perverts Divine Truth, abortionists will continue to claim more and more of the Christian faith as their own, on their own terms. They can't help themselves. Even abortionists yearn for God.

You have to understand, to these people it is sacred and holy because the 'god' they serve rejoices in it.

Their souls are completely darkened, they see no light. The  Schenectady's Emmanuel-Friedens Church is part of a huge net work in the gay and lesbian cabal that is honeycombing our country like a huge cancer, disguised in smiling wholesomeness, infesting our churches, schools, even families. Just google their church and you find it linked to things like gay pride associations and gay and lesbian sing groups where they recruit 'youth' and do family 'outreach'…and it's all over the country, the world, and sponsored by nice companies like Macy's and Sprint.

This gay lesbian thing isn't just a passing fad…it's a dark spirit that is spreading like a poisoning everything. We have to pray specifically against it. I say the "Jesus, King of all nations novena of communions" pretty much specifically for this kind of thing, especially since the scandals.

Have we forgotten how the gay mafia has taken over whole seminaries, some even being called 'pink palaces' and that we still are plagued with homosexual men hiding in the priesthood?

    Why should this surprise us?

We have to pray against this spirit in particular for our children, because  in their own words, they are 'out reaching' for them.

God, please give us strength and the grace in dealing with this issue.

I read some place that a society can be judged by the way it treats the elderly and their yet to be born children.

When I try to make sense of things like this, I cant help to think if those who are in favor of a killing the yet to be born, if they were to trade places in the womb when the killing was just about to take place, with knowing what was going to happen, what would their stance be ?

God, please have mercy on us.

One idea I have for everyone is to take that new IRS rebate check everyone might get and give it ALL to your favorite prolife ministry…think if just a 100,000 of us did that…..Money mouth

Thats what we will be doing if it goes thru.

Well, then I hope a few people consider CE to be a pro-life ministry — because we certainly are!

I think I read this as something from Mother Theresa.  Whether she was quoting someone else, I don’t know.

Only recently did I find out something that made me think more deeply about the horrible impact to the future of our lives and faith that abortion has in this world. I know someone close to me that found out from his mother, that back in 1959, when she became pregnant with him out of wedlock, she made the decision to have an abortion (even though it was illegal at that time). She was young, had recently immigrated here from Germany, had no one to turn to, and was scared out of her wits. She took the chemical cocktail that the abortionist provided, but the baby would not miscarry. She then went to his office, was prepped and ready for surgery, but when the abortionist walked in, by God's grace she found the strength to pick herself up off that table and walk out. Because of her heroic decision (and again, by the grace of God), this baby was born and grew into the man who has been my wonderful husband for almost 19 years. He is the father of three beautiful, faith-filled children, and has been a convert to the Catholic faith for 16 years. So, I think of all the people that should have been here to be wonderful spouses and parents to wonderful children, but did not get the opportunity because life was taken from them so early on. Our society has no idea of the magnitude of the damage it has done to itself through the support of abortion. A priest teaching in a Catholic High School once said, "These are not potential human beings, but human beings with potential." Kathryn

I said it elsewhere in response to this story — if Fr. Robert Drinan were still alive, odds are he would also have blessed this event.

Is it licit to thank God that he's no longer alive?

Every year, around this time of year, as we mark the anniversary of Roe vs, Wade, I am reminded of a story I once heard, about a righteous man who died and went to Heaven. Upon seeing the Lord, face to face, he was speechless. But Jesus knew he had questions in his heart and He invited the inquiries.

"Lord", the man asked, "Why did you allow disease to roam the face of the earth? Why are there no cures for cancer, AIDs and other diseases?"

"Lord, why is there poverty? Why are so many poor and destitute and why haven't you done anything to help them?"

"Lord, why is there injustice? Where have all the brave men and women gone that would take a stand against injustice and truly change the world?"

The Lord answered the man. "My son, I understand your questions. I have sent the answers to all of these problems to Earth as little children who would grow up one day, each destined to solve these problems. They were to have grown up to become brilliant and gifted thinkers, scientists, doctors, leaders of nations. So very sadly, their lives were terminated before they were born."

Throughout its' history, the Catholic Church has always had the right enemies.

Perhaps the other side is finally acknowledging they are a religion.  Every false religion, every false god demands human sacrifice.  No exception here.

The first thing I thought of as I read this article was that abortion advocates are finally using the tactics of the same-sex marriage advocates here in Massachusetts… making a display of the local clergy's endorsement.

Stay tuned, you will see more of this.

I agree with those who say we must direct our moral outrage and our resources to support the pro-life efforts right in our locale.

I remember marching with my diocese (Rockville Centre)to a Planned Barrenhood killing center with our Bishop years ago, and feeling sick at heart to be greeted, from the other side of the forbidding black iron cemetery-like gates, by a female minister, and a Franciscan Friar(he was an Episcopalian from the Little Portion Friary). The abortionists know the power of the clergy, and how to harness it for their evil purposes. But it's more sinister than that.

Fr Frank Pavone once said that while he was praying outside an abortion mill, someone ran out and yelled at him, "Stop interfering with our SACRAMENT!".

The sacrifice of children was part of many pagan and satanic rituals, and we must be aware that abortion is a continuation of this evil ancient tradition. That is why Our Lady of Guadalupe, who overcame the Aztec religion's human sacrifice in Mexico is the perfect patroness of the unborn.
